So with choosing the best of all worlds, we found a program called Class Afloat, which was based around travel, some post secondary school, learn to work and sail a tall ship as part of a crew, but no skiing. However, I have only signed up for the first semester currently so I still may be able to fit some powder time in still.
As far as travel, by signing up for only the first semester I will be starting in Amsterdam and finishing in late January in Barbados. I have attached our route map below for those that are curious of all my ports. The program takes students from all over the world from grade 11 to 1st year university and I am taking Ist Year Biology (Marine Biology), 1st Year English and a couple mandatory Leadership/Sociology courses.
More about the program, it is affiliated with Acadia University where we will be sailing on the Dutch boat, Gulden Leeuw, which operates out of Lunenberg, Nova Scotia with a Norwegian crew....keeping up? All 40 some students are also required to work as part of the crew to assist in all daily activities on the boat such as night watch, maintenance, rigging, charting, galley....Believe me this is not a cruise ship, we are provided a cot and are only allowed to bring what we can fit in a provided canvas bag including our bedding, pillow, textbooks, clothes and whatever else for the school year.
