Raining...No Fiji

Four hours prior to our departure from Los Angeles to Fiji we received an email from our accommodations there. They recommended we stay at an airport area hotel upon arrival in Fiji for at least one day and possibly more due to the weather. Our accommodations were unsure if we could get to the island and if we did they were unsure about services or if they could get us off the island if the weather turned worse.

Upon quickly looking at the long term forecast we saw that they were calling for another nine inches over our first four days in paradise. So we hastily decided that since we were only scheduled for Fiji for six days anyways why spend it in an airport hotel and or in monsoon conditions...we are still not sure if we made the right decision.

Anyways an executive decision was made to reroute our flight directly to New Zealand and canceling Fiji altogether (luckily there was a flight at about the same time directly to New Zealand). All four of us were extremely disappointed about missing our Fiji beach time but also knew we could use the extra week in New Zealand.

We will update soon about our first week here in New Zealand.

As tempting as it was, it is a good thing we didn't decide to join up with you in Fiji!

Might be a challenge to get Cari to try it! Elyssa- very cool to share some north American stuff with the locals! Tell Jeff that Crosby is supposed to resume play this week- unfortunately a little too late! Awaiting the next update- Flemings!
